Posted on 14 Apr 2008 09:39

Geneious Pro is proving very popular as a teaching tool. In recognition of this, Biomatters is pleased to announce the new Geneious Education page where we have gathered our tutorials and other useful information. In the coming months we will be adding more tutorials and encouraging you to try them. Current tutorials are:

  • Built-in Tutorial – Geneious includes a built in tutorial and this has been updated to allow for better navigation and more advanced information has been included.
  • Learn how to create your own tutorials – Simple examples walk you through the development of a tutorial package for Geneious Pro and we encourage you to submit your finished tutorials for inclusion on the Geneious Education page.
  • Basic Bioinformatics Tutorial – Dr Mike Bunce introduces basic bioinformatics using "ancient DNA" from extinct species.
  • Pairwise Alignments Tutorial – Dr Shane Sturrock helps you develop the skills to align pairs of DNA and protein sequences using worked examples. The suggested answers are also included in this tutorial making it an excellent self learning tool.

Future tutorials will cover other major functions within Geneious Pro. If you would like to request a tutorial on a specific function, or would like to work with Biomatters to create a tutorial please contact us.

In addition, we have introduced the new Geneious Pro teaching license which is designed to allow you to run a course using the full Pro feature suite at an affordable price, even for large classes. More information on this can be found on our 'Purchase' page where you can request a quote for your class.

Finally, we have been asked to add a 1 month Geneious Pro license and this has now been added to your other choices giving you the ability to buy just the right license for your needs.
