Have you ever seen developers play hacky sack in tuxedos? On the afternoon of the awards evening, the eh-hem, gentlemen of Geneious gathered ‘round for the traditional 3pm hacky circle dressed in bow ties and tux’s. It truly is a sight to behold, and in a metaphorical way is the embodiment of Biomatters’ culture.
On the cold winter evening, the 10th Annual Computerworld Excellence Awards was attended by most of our developers, Chairman Greg Casagrande, COO Brett Ammundsen and CEO Candace Toner. The gala evening at the Langham Hotel in Auckland kicked off to celebrate the leaders, innovators and inspirations in information and technology for New Zealand. With several parliamentary ministers in attendance and over 450 in the audience the mood for an evening of celebration was set.
After nine awards and the main course, it was finally time for the ‘big’ prize of the evening. Who was to be named as the best in the industry for their use of innovation? As the other finalists’ projects were named and the envelope was passed onto the stage, everything seemed to go silent – hold your breath – the award goes to Biomatters, for Geneious Pro!
What a proud moment for the team to walk through the audience, up on stage and look wide eyed into the floodlights – somewhere out there were cheering and clapping members of our technology fraternity!
Overall, it was an evening of celebration and confirmation that Geneious Pro is indeed, a creation of which we are very proud. We hope you, our users, also take credit for this achievement for without you and your input, it would not be the evolving innovation that we have always intended it to be. So thank you and congratulations!
