From the 22-24 March, Sky City Convention Centre hosted NZBIO 2010 – "New Zealand's premier bio event". Our Market Development Manager, Dr. Peter Meintjes, and Technical Product Manager, Dr. Shane Sturrock, represented Biomatters, while CEO Candace Toner featured prominently as a session chair and speaker in her role as an NZBIO Board member.
"Sequencing: Next Generation Business models" was the topic of the Biomatters-sponsored session featuring Illumina's Region Specialist on Agrigenomics for the Asia, Pacific & Japan region, Dr. Richard Hodgson, and University of Queensland's Associate Professor David Edwards alongside Biomatters' own Dr. Peter Meintjes and chaired by the CEO of the Queensland Facility for Advanced Bioinformatics, Dr. Jeremy Barker.
Peter showcased the much-anticipated Geneious Server as the software solution to the mounting difficulties associated with the huge amounts of data being generated by the latest generation of massively parallel sequencing machines. Questions from the floor reinforced the need for an integrated software solution such as the Geneious Server that streamlines the workflows for next generation sequencing research.
