Dear Geneious Customers,
I would like you to be the first to know about four big events coming up in Geneious’ evolution. In the next few months, we will be releasing our new license server, launching Geneious Server and Geneious 5.0, and for the first time in three years we will be increasing our pricing. We will send out another email closer to the date, but if you or anyone you know would like to order Geneious, but is holding off for now, please let them know to get in soon for our current pricing levels. As always, you can use any of our licenses across multiple platforms. Upgrades and support will be in full effect for the duration of the subscription or for 12 months after the date of purchase for a perpetual license.
Our new license server will be built using the industry standard tool ‘FLEXnet,’ giving you the ability to easily manage your Geneious licenses for multiple users, networks and sites. You will also be able to renew and add additional license seats and know that you always have the right number of licenses for your users’ needs. This functionality will be included with all of our concurrent licenses.
We are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of our new Geneious Server, solving the problem that many users face when their computer simply cannot handle next-gen assembly without running out of RAM. Geneious Server is ideally suited for individuals, labs or departments as it is scaleable, and off-loads computationally intensive assembly to a dedicated 64-bit Linux server. It will also give you the ability to run peer-reviewed, industry standard assembly algorithms such as Maq, Velvet and Bowtie (no black-box assemblers here!) from within Geneious without tying up your own desktop processor. As Geneious Server evolves it will include the ability to act as a front end to Sun Grid Engine and other parallel computing environments, giving you easy access to enormous computational resources.
Geneious 5.0 marks a significant milestone for Biomatters. We are delighted that our customers now span more than 60 countries and over 1,000 institutes and companies worldwide. Over the past three years, your suggestions and requests have formed a significant part of our technology roadmap. We have travelled the world and spoken to hundreds of enthusiastic Geneious users face-to-face about what they want in an application, and we have endeavored to exceed your expectations. I believe that the release of Geneious 5.0 combined with our new license server and Geneious Server will be the industry leader for molecular biologists globally. We can’t wait to hear your feedback!

Would it be possible to analyse next generation sequencing results using Geneious Server and Geneious 5.0? We will do 75 base paired-end mRNA sequencing using Illumina/Solexa system.
I will really appreciate it if you can get back to me. Thank you.

Hi Jiwon,
Geneious Server and Geneious 5.0 will handle paired-end next gen data.
Regards,
Shane

Will Geneious 5.0 be able to calculate Ka and Ks values in an alignment?

It is a requested feature and we're looking at it but it won't be in Geneious 5.0.

I second Joshua's request. Alternatively, you could work on making it easier to export alignment and tree data for PAML. The reason you keep getting this request is that preparing data for PAML is such a pain.

Are you planning to support the mapping of RNA-Seq data to genomes? There is a real need for this capability, especially with a great user interface, like Geneious has.
