Biomatters

Bridging the Gap in Bioinformatics

Across the world, organizations are seeking a common base for the transfer of data, information and knowledge. Biomatters provides this common base through its technology and partnership programs with world-leading biotech and computing companies and organizations.

Biomatters is proud to collaborate with Universities around the globe on research projects. Whether it is providing the technological framework for mapping the entire ecosystem of Moorea, Tahiti with UC Berkeley and the Smithsonian Institute, or developing new algorithms for bacterial metagenomics with the University of Queensland, Biomatters’ is at the forefront of global investigative research. Biomatters works with world leaders in the scientific and academic world, across 45 countries.

Partners

Biomatters actively works with global leaders such as hardware and software partners to ensure our clients achieve the highest quality performance and service from our suite of services. We welcome the opportunity to work with technology providers for the betterment of scientific research.

BioAlma

Bioalma specializes in developing systems for knowledge management (automated information extraction) and manipulation and analysis of biologic information and data (microarrays). BioAlma are the creators of the world-leading software AKS2, an informatics system containing powerful tools to search, analyze, and visualize all types of information extracted from biomedical literature.
Novoseek is a biomedical search engine based on text mining technologies for the retrieval of meaningful biomedical literature in the relevant scientific journals.

GenomeQuest

GenomeQuest, Inc. is the leading sequence informatics company providing applications and services to manage and mine the world’s sequence data. GenomeQuest’s flagship product is a web-based sequence information platform that enables users to exploit genomic information resources including next-generation sequencing tools and worldwide biological sequence reference databases. Collaboration and interoperability between GenomeQuest and Geneious will create an advanced search and depth of analysis to a significant portion of their shared global client base.

InterGrid

InterGrid has offices in New Zealand and the USA and has access to over 3000 processors worldwide that can be used to make your business more efficient. InterGrid continues to develop new models that revolutionize on-demand computing. Biomatters and InterGrid have created the ‘Green Button’ for seamlessly running intensive analyses on a super-powerful computing grid using Geneious. It’s like having a supercomputer inside your laptop, and can be accessed anywhere in the world – all you need is Geneious and a broadband connection. See www.greenbutton.co.nz and www.intergrid.co.nz for more information.

Microsoft BioIT Alliance

The BioIT Alliance is a group of organizations working together to realize the potential of personalized medicine. Microsoft created the Bio IT Alliance to unite the pharmaceutical, biotech, hardware, and software industries and aide in exploring new ways to share complex biomedical data. This collaborating among multi-disciplinary teams aims to speed the pace of discovery in the life sciences.

The BioIT Alliance brings together science and technology leaders from around the world to consider innovative ways to address the unique challenges faced, and share ideas on how to use Microsoft technology to reduce costs, streamline research, and market their products more effectively. Sun Microsystems – Partner Advantage

Biomatters uses Java as the core development language for Geneious, and we are committed to developing Geneious natively on the Solaris platform. Through our Partner Advantage affiliation with Sun, we are able to access information about Sun’s technologies, direction and support. Through this engagement, Biomatters is committed to excellence in every phase of our development process using Java, and committed to supporting Solaris users. See www.sun.com/java/

Time Logic Corp.

Time Logic are recognized world-leaders in acceleration hardware technology. Biomatters has created the Geneious Pro – Time Logic ’DeCypher’ plugin to give users the ability to visualize and organize sequence data in a fraction of the time over using conventional technology. Now users can run batch searches on a Time Logic DeCypher server using the integrated, elegant, and easy-to-use graphical interface provided by Geneious Pro. Geneious even downloads the search results automatically! See www.timelogic.com

Bioinformatics Institute of New Zealand

The Bioinformatics Institute New Zealand, at the University of Auckland, and Biomatters have created ‘Version 2’ of Geneious software for grid computing on BeSTGRID. BeSTGRID is short for Broadband enabled Science and Technology Grid running on the Kiwi Advanced Research & Education Network (KAREN). BeSTGRID and KAREN provide high-speed, high-capacity internet connectivity to New Zealand academics, researchers and educators. All applications developed under the project will be open source and freely available to researchers in New Zealand. Geneious is capable of running on virtual computing clusters as well as supercomputers. See www.bestgrid.org and www.karen.net.nz for more information.
